I Can’t Believe How Dumb the Pirates Are
In addition to losing to the Padres today, the Pittsburgh Pirates managed to significantly help out the dreaded Yankees by dealing our boy Xavier Nady and reliever Damaso Marte. In exchange the Pirates received a whole heap of crap. They appear to have vastly undervalued their own young outfielder.
The “prize” of the four minor leaguers obtained by Pittsburgh in this deal is a struggling AA outfielder who has immaturity issues. Earlier this season, he struck out and responded by saying “peace out” and going home in the middle of the game.
Hopefully X Nady will follow in the footsteps of other players I’ve been fans of that have gone to the Yankees and played poorly (because it is difficult to play well for an evil team, when you are a semi-good person). Recent examples include Javier Vazquez and Carl Pavano.
In other news, Kellen Kulbacki has been absolutely terrorizing the California League for the High Single-A Storm. Over the last ten games, he’s hit .463 with home runs in each of the last three games.
Storm pitcher Michael DeMark earned a promotion to AA San Antonio this week. Also, starting pitcher Josh Geer had a great start at AAA Portland, and we may see him on the big league club by the end of the season.
