Back in the Win Column
So the Tigers bullpen gift-wrapped a win for us tonight. Here’s some thoughts on the game.
-Good to see Maddux hold that offense down. Too bad we couldn’t get him a win.
-Was not really satisfied with the offense tonight, as we managed to let a sub-par pitcher keep us down for most of the game. But we’ll take it. At least we stayed patient in that eighth inning.
-Headley and Edgar continue to be studs, while Adrian continues to be an RBI machine.
-Joe Borowski managed to blow the game for the Indians and allow the hated Dodgers to come back. That game is still in progress, but hopefully LA fails miserably.
-I’ve about had it with Michael Barrett and we really should have traded him this off-season when teams were willing to take him.
Around the Farm 6/20
AAA- Portland 4, Tucson 3
Clay Hensley went six innings for the win and Joe Thatcher struck out two in the ninth for the save. Chip Ambres hit his 15th yack of the season. Former Angels catcher Shawn Wooten, who we signed after all of our catcher injuries, also went yard.
AA- Midland 2, San Antonio 1
A solid effort by starting pitcher Matt Buschmann and Wilton Lopez was overshadowed by the lack of offense.
High A- Lancaster 9, Lake Elsinore 8
The good news was that Cesar Carrillo pitched two scoreless innings in his second outing coming back from surgery. But Drew Miller and the Storm bullpen could not hold a lead. Good games from Kellen Kulbacki (2-for-4, RBI, 2 R), Rayner Contreras (3-for-4, 3 RBI) and Eric Sogard (2-for-5, RBI, 3 R).
A- Lansing 6, Fort Wayne 5
Yefri Carvajal hit a two-run homer for the Wizards, but the bullpen blew this one as well.
Low A- Boise 7, Eugene 6
Sawyer Carroll continued his hot start with three RBI tonight. 6’8” draft-pick Tyson Bagley (Dallas Baptist) struck out four in two innings of scoreless relief.
